Monday-Friday 10am-6:30pm General Description of the JobClass Coordinate and participate in a variety of technical tasks,tests and determinations involving the utilization of radioactivematerials and measurement instrumentation. Duties andResponsibilities of this Level Coordinate and participate in avariety of technical procedures to include in vivo and in vitrostudies; operate radiation detection and measurementinstrumentation including stationary imaging devices, scintillationgamma and apparatus for in vitro counting. Calibrate and draw upradiopharmaceutical materials for administration to patients;formulate radiopharmaceutical materials from pre-prepared kits.

Calibrate instruments and review calibration data to detect trendsindicating instrument malfunction. Calculate data to includeresults of patient studies and radioactive decay. Evaluate recordedimages for technical quality. Process computerized image data toinclude function curves and reconstructed SPECT images. Assume carefor physical and psychological needs of patient of all ages duringan examination, initiates life support measures for patient, ifnecessary. Maintain inventory of supplies in assigned area; prepareand maintain records concerning radiopharmaceutical receiving,dispensing and disposal activities. Maintain records of order,including brachytherapy procedures, receipt and disposal of allradioactive material in the department. Provide instruction andtechnical guidance to radiologic technology students or otheradvanced imaging techs; assist in training new employees. MonitorNuclear Medicine Department with portable survey meter for possiblecontamination. Performs EKG prep, tracing Perform other relatedduties incidental to the work described herein. Assist in thedevelopment and evaluation of new procedures and techniques to meetthe needs of specific protocols as required: consult with physicianconcerning the application of nuclear medicine procedures andtechniques. Administer thyroid therapy to patient that hasundergone prior clinical and nuclear medicine diagnosis, insuresdecay of pharmaceutical and calculates for correct dosage in dosecalibrator, observes patient dosage to insure proper treatmentunder direct supervision of radiologist. Assist in qualityassurance program relating to calibration and maintenance ofequipment. Assist with the education and training of new physicians(interns, residents, and fellows) as applicable. Perform otherrelated duties incidental to the work described herein. DUHS offerscareer growth and enrichment within Imaging services. There is aclinical ladder program with various steps and opportunities ateach hospital within the health system. Required Qualifications atthis LevelEducation Graduate or completion of program that meetseligibility requirements for registry/certification or currentlyholds required registry or certification. Experience None requiredbeyond above education/certification requirements. Level I mustobtain ARRT or NMCTB certification within 18 months of employment.

Level II Minimum of two years’ experience as a Nuclear Medicinetechnologist. Level III A minimum of four years’ experience withinspecialty modality in which they are seeking promotion. Degrees,Licensure, and/or Certification ARRT (N) certification and/or NMTCBcertification within 18 months of employment.
