PrimaryResponsibilities:
  • Perform routine and specialized nuclearmedicine procedures and examinations for radiological diagnosis
  • Administer radio-pharmaceuticals and medications for patientimaging and therapeutic procedures
  • Operate computed tomography(CT) scanners that are used in conjunction with nuclear medicineprocedures (PET technologists only)
  • Demonstrate competencyperforming all nuclear medicine procedures and the operation of allrelated equipment
  • Provide images, data analysis and patientinformation for diagnostic interpretation or therapeutic procedures
  • Process data and enhancing digital images using advanced computertechnology
  • Evaluate images to determine the technical quality andcalibration of instrumentation
  • Evaluate new protocols
  • Assistsin the completion of the accreditation process for American Collegeof Radiology (ACR) every 3 years
  • Maintain communication withradiologists and other physicians, patients and their families, andother persons
  • Perform quality control and reporting tasks,setting up and conducting procedures, maintain day-to-dayschedules, assisting radiologist, and contributing to the efficientoperation of the department assuring the quality and continuity ofpatient care
  • Acquire patients’ chart data/requisition and reviewsboth to determine correct room set-up and learn of any specificmedical problems, contraindications to the study and verify thatthe study being ordered correlates to the diagnostic needs
  • Educate patients regarding procedure, equipment and exam to ensureunderstanding and safety
  • Maintain quality standards as it relatesto HIPPA regulations
  • Maintain CPR accreditation
  • Demonstrate apositive patient experience; share information with patients,providing knowledge about the procedure; ensuring they are aware offollow-up steps and requirements
  • Demonstrate a positiveexperience from the referring providers; providing excellentquality
  • Consistently submit images of diagnostic quality withoutrecommendation of additional image acquisition; performs qualityassurance on images and equipment; demonstrates competency inutilizing systems
  • Make decisions authoritatively and wisely afteradequately contemplating various available courses of action
  • Contribute to efficient out-patient Operations, maximizing theproductivity of assigned modality
  • Observe patient for vital signsduring examination
  • Utilize sterile techniques preventingcontamination
  • Identify anatomical orientation on all requiredimages and assures proper file identification on all images
  • Review each examination for technical accuracy, presents completedexaminations to radiologist, and communicates pertinent data topersons responsible for the care of patients following theprocedure
  • Demonstrate teamwork; interacts in a positive mannerwith employees and contributes to a collaborative work environment
  • Meet or exceed deadlines, follows through, demonstratingaccountability, flexibility and adaptability
  • Enhance professionalgrowth and maintain certifications, registration and active CME’sthrough education programs, conferences, and workshops You’ll berewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment thatwill challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes tosucceed in your role as well as provide development for other rolesyou may be interested in.
Required Qualifications:
  • High Schooldiploma or equivalent
  • CNMT (Certified Nuclear MedicineTechnologist) certification
  • Registered by American Registry ofRadiologic Technologists (PET technologists only)
  • CTCertification within 180 days of hire
  • 1 years of experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or Baccalaureatedegree in radiography, radiology, radiation therapy, or nuclearmedicine
  • Demonstrated ability to follow oral and writteninstructions
  • Demonstrated ability to adequately use, or learn touse, the department’s computerized system and its associateddevices
Physical Demands:
  • Requires standing and walking forextended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighingup to 50 pounds
  • Ability to assist patients weighing 300 pounds ormore and place them in appropriate positions for operation ofequipment
  • Requires eyesight correctable to 20/20 to operateequipment and review images

The hourlyrange for this role is $28.03 to $54.95 per hour. Pay is based onseveral factors including but not limited to local labor markets,education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Groupcomplies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
