CRNA Nurse Anesthetist Position Summary:
The Nurse Anesthetist administers anesthesia under medical direction for diversified surgical cases, utilizing inhalation, intravenous, spinal or rectal agents. Emphasis in the work is on skilled application of appropriate professional techniques, constant review of anesthetized patients’ condition during surgery, and completion of remedial measures to counteract unfavorable clinical conditions. Incumbents are also responsible for immediate preoperative and postoperative care of patients in the introduction of and recovery from anesthesia. Work is performed in accordance with recognized professional principles and techniques. All procedures and techniques utilized during anesthesia for surgery are subject to supervision by the Attending Anesthesiologist assigned to that area. Responsibilities. Pre-anesthesia assessment. Obtains and/or verifies patient consent. Discuss anesthetic options and risks with the patient. Induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia. Monitoring of the patient’s physiological condition. Performance of clinical intervention as needed Requirements. Current license as a registered professional nurse. Graduation from an accredited program of nurse anesthesia education. Certified or recertified by the AANA Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists
