Job Summary The CRNA I is a board-certified licensed clinician who provides anesthesia services to all patients in the organization. General responsibilities include review of patients’ medical history, administration and management of anesthesia, and monitors patient during procedure or throughout peri-operative period. Incumbent is responsible for supplying documentation of continued registration as a CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist). This advanced practice position offers interested individuals the opportunity to develop their clinical skills with a dynamic anesthesia team in a large, academic medical center with a rich history and strong medical school affiliation. At MGH, CRNAs have a great working relationship with anesthesiologists and are part of an integrated care team model. We have an exceptional leadership team, an extensive orientation and training program and regularly scheduled check-ins to support new graduate CRNAs and ensure they succeed in an acute, fast paced environment. Our CRNAs:
- Place IVs, A-lines and central lines, and do our own spinals, epidurals, fiberoptic intubations and occasional regional blocks
- Handle a wide variety of cases including trauma, burns, general surgery, orthopedics, neurology, vascular, thoracic, electrophysiology, endoscopy, interventional radiology, and pediatrics
- Collaborate with expert clinicians in the OR (e.g. providers, nurses and surgeons)
- Some of our sites offer regional and cardiac
- Work synergistically with our anesthesiologists in a care team model
- Gain access to the full scope of anesthesia practices and increased autonomy over time.
Qualifications Education Master’s Degree Nurse Anesthesia Practitioner required Licenses and Credentials Anesthetist, Certified Registered Nurse required Massachusttes Registered Nurse preferred Experience Experience as a

- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, biochemistry, chemistry, physics and pharmacology as related to anesthesia.
- Cultural competence and language skills for patient population is desired.
- Demonstrates clinical competence within the scope of clinical practice standards set by the department.
- Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic, team-based care setting, with the ability to work independently as well as in a care team to deliver high quality care.
- Effective interpersonal skills to work with surgeons and staff in a variety of cases and environments. Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
- Ability to keep up with up to date best practices in the field of anesthesia.
- Skilled in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings.
- Ability to maintain quality control standards.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
