Description The Nurse Anesthetist administers anesthesia for surgical, obstetrical, and other medical procedures for all age groups – neonates, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients following medically approved techniques under the professional direction of an anesthesiologist or surgeon. Has full access to patient health information. Requirements
Current Certification as a Nurse Anesthetist by the AANA Council on Certification or eligible for certification
Current Registered Nurse Licensure in North Carolina
Current Verification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist by the Board of Nursing North Carolina
Member of the AANA (optional)
Current BCLS, ACLS, PALS and NALS certification
Current Credentials / Reappointment per IHS Bylaws
Successful completion of hospital and unit-specific orientation
Must possess full range of body motion to pass basic FIT test for position to include walking, kneeling, standing, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, reaching and sitting for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds; may occasionally lift up to 100lbs with assistance or assistive devices.
Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as simple grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation (i.e. keyboard).
Good visual acuity required for patient assessment, medication administration, and documentation of care.
Good hearing essential for accurate patient assessment.
