Areas You’ll Cover:
SWAT is short for System Wide Anesthesia Team, which is essentially a CRNA float pool and provides coverage for all locations and departments including Pediatrics & Women’s Health, Inpatient (Winston Salem), Outpatient (Winston Salem, Davie, Clemmons, Lexington and Wilkes). Specific cases at these locations include, but are not limited to: General Surgery, Gynecology, Gastroenterology, Ophthalmology, Dental Surgery, Orthopedics, Hand Surgery, Otolaryngology (ear, nose, and throat), Pain Management, Plastic Surgery, Podiatry, and Urology.
What You’ll Do:
As a valued healthcare team member, the CRNA will play a key role in team-focused patient care, providing anesthesia using safe and quality techniques during Inpatient Procedures. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Potential for and encouraged to precept Student Nurse Anesthetists – opportunity to mentor and assess these medical students.
- Uses medical decision-making skills to determine appropriate patient care plan to ensure peri-operative and anesthesia care, being sensitive to co-morbidities and age & developmental guidelines.
- Collaborates with medical team when needed for effective team-based care; Uphold patient safety, drive quality improvement, and promote infection prevention within job responsibilities and initiatives.
- Document and maintain patient records in compliance with hospital standards, ensuring confidentiality.
- Maintain scheduling flexibility, readiness, and punctuality to deliver timely patient care.
- Exhibit professionalism through teamwork, collaboration, and a commitment to ongoing professional development
- Contribute to cost containment efforts by conserving resources.
- Performs Other Related Duties as Assigned.
_The clinician functions under the regulatory mandate from their respective licensing organization (North Carolina Medical Board or North Carolina Board of Nursing) with departmental specific credentialing from the institution._
CRNA Requirements:
- Graduation of an Accredited Nurse Anesthesia Program, Master’s Degree or Higher Required.
- Registered Nurse licensure from the State of North Carolina Board of Nursing + Currently Certified or Recertified to practice as a Nurse Anesthetist by the National Board
- Current CPR Certification – ACLS, BLS, PALS
- Ability to demonstrate clinical competency within the scope of granted privileges.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse clinical teams.
