114683CRNAWe are seeking a CRNA. This positionreports jointly to the Clinical Lead CRNA and the Division Chief ofNurse Anesthesia (Chief CRNA). Primary clinical responsibilitiesare (a) the administration of intravenous, inhalation and otheranesthetics to patients in an operating room and (b) observing thephysiological condition of patients while under anesthesia. Inconjunction with these primary responsibilities (a) evaluates eachassigned patient’s physical state and plans the course ofanesthesia, (b) obtains, assembles, operates, and/ or monitorsanesthesia equipment and (c) ensures that all necessary supplies,drugs and anesthetic agents are available.

Specific Duties ℜsponsibilities Independently researches new/unknown procedures, diseases,medications, and equipment. Functions within safe parameters for quality/good patient care.

Seeks assistance from attending anesthesiologist when appropriate.

Uses critical thinking skills and adapts to changes asnecessary. Applies knowledge of pre-op, intra-op, and post-op in effectivemanner under normal conditions and under emergency conditions. Demonstrates technical competence. Employs dexterity whenperforming anesthetic procedures. Understands all anesthetic equipment used in the JHH OR, usesitems to full advantage, and handles equipment carefully. Sets upall necessary equipment for a successful anesthetic course.

Performs& Documents Timely Pre-anesthesia Assessments Review of medical history (including anesthesia, drug andallergy history) Focused physical examination (heart, lungs, airway, ASAclassification) Plan for anesthesia care Obtains anesthesia informed consent Collaborates and consults with attending anesthesiologist priorto start of case on plan for anesthesia care (general, regional,combined, local, and sedation techniques) when applicable Anticipates key procedures and assures an anesthesiaenvironment (e.g., supplies & equipment including anesthesiamachine check, fluid warmers, blood, any ‘special’) necessary tocarry out anesthetic plan Orders and administers pre-anesthetic medications andfluidsIntra-012 Assessment Selects, applies and inserts non-invasive and invasivemonitoring devices. Selects and administers anesthesia, sedation, adjuncts andaccessory drugs and fluids. Manages patient airway and pulmonary status. Demonstrates understanding of relevant clinical issues,recognizes priorities in clinical situations; aware of own limits;appropriate use of tests and procedures. Maintains effective communication with team (i.e.,intraoperative personnel & Attending Anesthesiologist) includingbriefing and debriefing discussions. Facilitates emergence and recovery from anesthesia andtransport to recovery area, providing thorough report to receivingunit in a timely manner.

Post Anesthesia Evaluation & Management Implements acute and chronic pain management. Performs and documents timely post anesthesia evaluation anddischarges patient from recovery area when appropriate. Provides a complete report of patient’s anesthetic course andany pertinent information necessary to accurately transfer care ofthe patient. Facilitates room turnover in a timely fashion (room, medicineand equipment prep, pre-op assessment). Provides medical services according to the JHM ServiceStandards to include: Patient Relations, Self-Management, Teamwork,Communications, Ownership/Accountability, and Continuous.

MinimumQualifications Completion of a nurse anesthesia program approved by MD Boardof Nursing. If program was completed after 1/1/08, a Master’sDegree is required. Current MD State RN and CRNA license required. Current CPR certification, ACLS required. Credentialing prior to start date required.
