JobSummaryThe job responsibilities for Certified Registered NurseAnesthetists at Lexington Medical Center must be performed undermedical supervision. CRNAs provide anesthesia services for allpatients from birth through geriatrics. Anesthesia services areprovided for all types of patients incorporating pre-anesthesia,intra-op anesthesia, post anesthesia and emergency airwayintervention.

EssentialFunctionsQualified nurse anesthetists must be able to provideanesthesia care under the direction of a supervisinganesthesiologist who has been granted privileges at LexingtonMedical Center.

A CRNA may administer a regional anesthetic onlywith permission from the attending anesthesiologist.

The nurseanesthetist may exercise independent judgment within the area ofhis/her professional competence and may participation directly inthe medical management of patients under the supervision of ananesthesiologist or a specified physician. The nurse anesthetistmay perform the following medically delegated tasks:

Employee understands, agrees, andrecognizes that the department functions in a 24-hour, 7-day a weekcapacity and that there is an off-shift and call provision andstaff obligation to meet department needs.

Ensure Hazardous Waste orHazardous Waste Pharmaceuticals are discarded, stored, and managedwith other compatible waste streams in containers that are properlylabeled and closed prior to being shipped offsite for properdisposal. Initial RCRA training is received within 6 months of thehire date and continuing with annual RCRA training.
