Job Summary:

Physician Assistant/ Nurse Practitioner provides medical, and surgical medical care to ensure the highest standard of patient care is provided independently, under the supervision of a board-certified dermatologist. This role includes four days of clinical care per week. You will work with an experienced team of dermatology professionals and support staff with a dermatology-specific EMR.

Location:

The practice is located in Birmingham and Jasper, AL. These locations have full schedules, and you will treat about 25-40 patients a day. The opportunity is located at both locations and will split the days during the week.

Expectations:

Provides excellent patient care as per company and regulatory requirements under the direct supervision of a board-certified dermatologist (supervising physician). Diagnose and treat skin conditions such as acne, moles, psoriasis, or skin cancer. Order lab tests and review pathology reports. Assures that medical record documentation of care meets established clinical quality and compliance standards. Instructs and counsels patients on topics such as the need for annual dermatological screenings, sun protection, skin cancer awareness, or skin and lymph node self-examinations. Prescribe and dispense medication or topical treatments. Adheres to Medical Board requirements for supervision. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols. Complies with federal, state, and local professional requirements and advises management on needed actions. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Qualifications/Experience:

Successful completion of a registered Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner education program. Board-certified and current unrestricted Alabama PA or NP license is required At least 1-2 years’ experience in Dermatology specialty preferred. CPR certification Ability and eagerness to learn and grow Excellent teamwork, communication, and organizational skills are essential.

Work environment and physical requirements:

Medical office, procedure/exam room, and laboratory environment may include exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, biohazards, or toxic substances. Daily activities may include standing, walking, sitting, bending, and lifting items to 25 lbs.
