Position Summary:
We are seeking compassionate, experienced, and motivated Urgent Care Nurse Practitioners to join our growing team on a full-time, part-time, or PRN basis. The Urgent Care NP will deliver high-quality, evidence-based medical care to patients with acute, non-life-threatening conditions in a fast-paced clinic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and urgent care conditions (e.g., respiratory infections, minor injuries, UTI, lacerations, etc.) Perform point-of-care testing, minor procedures (e.g., suturing, splinting), and physical exams Prescribe medications and manage treatment plans in accordance with evidence-based guidelines Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as X-rays, EKGs, and lab work Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other clinical staff to ensure continuity of care Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) Provide health education to patients and families regarding disease prevention and treatment Triage and refer patients to appropriate levels of care when necessary Participate in quality improvement initiatives and comply with FQHC standards and regulatory requirements
Qualifications:
Education:
Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
Licensure:
Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in AL DEA license with Schedule II-V authority (or eligibility to obtain)
Certification:
Board Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C or FNP-BC) BLS (required), ACLS and PALS (preferred)
Experience:
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, or primary care preferred
Skills:
Strong clinical decision-making and diagnostic skills Ability to work independently and manage a fast-paced workload Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Comfortable with electronic medical records (EMR); experience with Athenahealth is a plus
