Stroke ProgramPhysician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (APRN) Role Scope
- Provides holistic, quality and cost-effective advanced practicecare for patients, families, and others in a target population, andparticipates in the medical management of patients, to achieve ormaintain optimal health status, manage disease and reduce risk ofillness.
- Engages in independent decision-making regarding thehealth care of individuals, families and groups across the lifespanand across the health care continuum.
- Reports to NursingDirector, Medical Director or Nurse Manager, or a matrix which mayinclude Nurse Manager, Nursing Director, Medical Director, or somecombination of those.
- The Physician Assistants and NursePractitioners (APRN) are part of a multidisciplinary team thatplans and delivers care for neurology, stroke and other complexdisorders affecting blood supply to the brain and spinal cord,including brain aneurysms, carotid artery disease, cervical arterydissection, vascular malformations and other disorders of thenervous system under the direction of the attending physicians atHartford Hospital.
