Rushford Center Inc Meriden (10172) NursePractitioner or Physician Assistant

  • Adult Outpatient Psychiatry
  • Meriden, CT SUMMARY Provides holistic, quality, and cost-effectiveadvanced practice care for patients, and families in a communitymental health setting (Local Mental Health Authority forMeriden-Wallingford).

Collaborates as a member of amultidisciplinary team in the medical/psychiatric management ofpatients, to achieve or maintain optimal health status, managedisease and reduce risk of illness. Engages in independentdecision-making regarding the health care of individuals andfamilies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1.

Performs comprehensivepsychiatric assessments including A treatment plan, when indicated2. Orders and interprets diagnostic studies and laboratory tests,which may include blood tests, urinalysis, EKG, EEG, and otherappropriate tests, to evaluate and treat the patient. 3. Recommendsand provides appropriate psychiatric interventions, includingindividual, family and group psychotherapy. 4. Prescribes,dispenses, and administers medical therapeutics and correctivemeasures in collaboration with designated staff psychiatrist. 5.Provides appropriate education to patients and families. Educatesstaff and students, formally or informally, to enhance theirability to provide patient care. 7. Opportunity to engagein/collaborate with others in the research process to discover,examine and test knowledge, theories and creative approaches topractice. Uses research findings as a basis for practice and toimprove health care. 8. Opportunity to provide consultation andliaison to general hospital and emergency room health careproviders and others to influence care plans, enhance ability toprovide health care, and affect change in systems. Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Current APRN license required.

Certification according to CT State law.

  • Master’s Degree inNursing strongly preferred. Experience
  • Specific experience inpsychiatry required.
  • Basic working knowledge of computers.
