Full Job Description Job Summary:

The Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric care, including assessments, diagnoses, medication management, and therapeutic interventions for individuals experiencing mental health challenges. The PMHNP works collaboratively with physicians, therapists, and case managers to ensure integrated, patient-centered care.

This position may be considered for either part-time or full-time employment and includes a combination of in-house and remote work components.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct psychiatric evaluations and mental health assessments. Diagnose mental health conditions in accordance with DSM-5 criteria. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions. Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, monitoring for efficacy and side effects. Educate patients and families on mental health conditions, treatment options, and medication adherence. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team, including physicians, psychologists, social workers, and primary care providers. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in eClinicalWorks. Participate in care coordination, discharge planning, and crisis intervention as needed. Stay informed on current developments and best practices in psychiatric medicine and mental health care. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, ethical standards, and organizational policies.

Qualifications/Education:

Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric/Mental Health (PMHNP).

Licensure/Certification:

Active and unrestricted RN license. Board Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) through the

ANCC. DEA

license (or eligibility) to prescribe controlled substances.

Experience:

Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting preferred.

Skills:

Strong clinical judgment and excellent communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Proficiency in eClinicalWorks and clinical documentation.
