Nursing Full Job Description Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Family Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide primary care to patients of all ages, focusing on health promotion and disease prevention. The Nurse Practitioner provides specialized nursing services in the area that may include, women’s health care, family planning, and/or primary care.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Obtaining and recording client’s health history; Performing comprehensive physical assessment (including biological, social and psychological needs) as part of a total physical examination. Diagnosing, treating and planning appropriate health care for clients in the area of women’s health care, family planning, and primary care as appropriate for specialists. Referring clients to physicians and/or outside agencies as required. Providing and prescribing medications within area of specialty. Performing laboratory procedures and interprets lab test results. Providing case management services for select clients. Providing group, individual and community education classes on birth control methods, sexually transmitted diseases and other health concerns. Establishing and maintaining client’s electronic medical records and other necessary records. Providing in-service education classes on assigned responsibilities for nursing staff. Participating as a preceptor and role model for Nurse Practitioner students.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Medical judgment is required to determine the appropriate procedure within scope of practice. Advanced level of competency in nursing through additional education or training as well as a Nurse Practitioner’s license and prescriptive privileges. Ability to issue instructions and guidance to Registered Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants and Medical Assistants.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Master’s degree in nursing and completion of a state acceptable Nurse Practitioner’s program.
Minimum:
one year’s experience. National certification in specialty, preferred. Licensed by the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse. Certified by the State of Georgia as a Nurse Practitioner. Prescriptive privileges; DEA. Possession of a valid Georgia Driver’s license.
