Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Recovery

Powers Ferry Road SE, Marietta, GA 30067 The NP plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth functioning of client treatment at Recovery DBT. Responsible for assessing client needs, managing comprehensive treatment plans, and coordinating services, the NP is integral to driving positive outcomes for our clients. This position requires close collaboration with clients, our providers, our admins staff and other stakeholders to ensure the best possible support and resources are provided.
Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment and Evaluation:
Conduct comprehensive assessments, including mental status examinations, to evaluate patients’ mental health needs, symptoms, and risk factors. Formulate nursing diagnoses and collaborate with staff psychiatrist and therapists to develop individualized treatment plans.
Medication Administration and Management:
Administer medications as prescribed, monitor responses, and assess for potential side effects or adverse reactions. Educate patients on medication usage, side effects, and adherence to treatment regimens.
Treatment Management:
Ensure progress of individual and group therapy, implementation of DBT skills, and crisis intervention protocols. Foster an environment that promotes patient needs, emotional support, and positive communication.
Patient and Family Guidance:
Provide patients and their families with mental health education, treatment options and community resources. Assist with guidance on lifestyle modifications, stress management techniques, and relapse prevention strategies to support long-term recovery.
Collaborative Treatment:
Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive treatment plans. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and treatment planning sessions to optimize patient outcomes and continuity of treatment.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, interventions, and outcomes in our EMR system, Kipu. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, confidentiality guidelines, and companies policies and procedures.
Crisis Management:
Assess and manage psychiatric emergencies. Implement de-escalation techniques, initiate crisis interventions, and coordinate referrals to appropriate emergency services or treatment facilities as needed.
Day-to-Day Expectations:
Coordinate and manage client treatment plans, ensuring all necessary services and treatments are arranged and provided. Communicate with clients, and treatment team members as needed or requested to ensure comprehensive treatment. Complete and maintain accurate documentation for each contact with clients, providers, and families. Conduct intake interviews, pre-admissions, admissions and drug screens. Facilitate discharge planning and prepare proper discharge paperwork upon client discharge. Participate in weekly consultation meetings with the treatment team or family members as requested and/or needed. Oversee and manage the operations of the office, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow. Handle scheduling and coordination of appointments and meetings as necessary. Maintain office records, including client records, ensuring they are accurate and up-to-date. Manage office supplies and inventory, ensuring that necessary materials are available as needed. Ensure compliance with office policies and procedures, and address any issues that arise in the office environment. Serve as a point of contact for office-related inquiries and issues.
Minimum Qualifications:
Licensure:
Current, unrestricted RN license in Georgia.
Certification:
Current CPR/Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate accredited by the American Heart Association.
Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years prior experience in a psychiatric unit setting.
Education:
Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by ACEN or CCNE. Ability to complete and successfully pass any required background checks. A minimum of one (1) year experience prescribing medications.
