DescriptionThis position required Nurse Practitioners tobe Acute Care Certified.

Key Responsibilities Regularly scheduled to work nights. Assists in the evaluation and treatment of patients. Documents the delivery of care in the individual’s medicalrecords. Conducts patient interviews and documents patient histories,psychosocial histories, health status and medical problems orpotential problems. Under the direction of a physician, performs physicalexaminations and specialized diagnostic and/or therapeuticprocedures including cast application and removal, wound suturingand dressing changes. Assists physician in diagnosing medical problems, developingcare plans, and prescribing treatment. Orders, schedules and/or performs laboratory tests anddiagnostic procedures such as urinalyses, pregnancy and bloodtests, and x-rays. Communicates necessity, preparation, nature and anticipatedeffects of scheduled procedures to patient. In collaboration with physician, arranges for consultationswith or referrals to other medical professional or communityservices. Educates patient on health habits, self-examinations, behaviormanagement, need for follow-up assessments/treatments, at homemedical care, medication and other issues related to medical orhealth problems. Works with manager to formulate plan for professionaldevelopment. Attends educational in-services as appropriate. Participates in professional activities and organizations tomaintain knowledge of current trends, practices, anddevelopments. Maintains and updates current, accurate patient recordsincluding medical assessment, interventions, and evaluations. Collects and interprets diagnostic data to implementappropriate care patient care plans. Prepares statistical reports and analyses of research projectsand investigational protocols; reports on progress, adverse trendsand appropriate conclusions and recommendations. Trains and teaches other health care professionals includingstudents and residents in techniques and procedures unique tospecific setting. Actively participates on organizational health servicescommittees. Performs related responsibilities as required.

MinimumQualifications Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program orPhysician Assistant program. Currently licensed as an advanced practice nurse in the stateof Georgia by the Georgia Board of Nursing and certified as a NursePractitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) orequivalent body, or Certified as a Physician’s Assistant by theNational Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants(NCCPA). Licensed as appropriate in the state of Georgia. May require at least one year of direct experience in one ormore high acuity clinical specialties. BLS, ACLS, and Healthcare Provider certificationsrequired.
