JobSummaryProvides primary care in collaborative joint practice withthe physicians to oncology patients. Scope of responsibilityincludes expert practitioner, educator/teacher, care management,consultant, nurse researcher, and nurse leader.
Accountabilities
- Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care for individualpatients. Incorporates evidence-based research into clinicalpractice. 28%
- Initiates and documents appropriate interventions;evaluates and records patient/family response within practiceprotocol; prescribes drug therapies per protocol/physicianconsultation. 20%
- Assists physicians and performs procedures asneeded; conducts patient assessments and provides physician withinformation prior to seeing the patient. 15%
- Assessespatient/family needs and provides education. 15%
- Promotes wellnessand recommends community resources to meet patient and familyneeds. 5%
- Promotes/provides staff education. 3%
- May supervise theactivities of clinical nursing and support staff and mentor newAdvanced Practitioners. 4%
- Knowledgeable of reimbursementprocedures and documentation requirements. 4%
- Completes patientcharge tickets. 2%
- Provides case management for oncology clientsand their families. 2%
- Serves as a resource person for the nursingstaff by providing information being studied in clinical trials.
