JOB TITLE
: Nurse Practitioner
DEPARTMENT
: Adult Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU)
SCHEDULED HOURS
: Hours may vary but average Monday-Friday days.
JOB DESCRIPTION
:
PURPOSE AND SCOPE
To provide psychiatric services to those admitted to our CSU. Assist in oversight of the day-to-day psychiatric services provided.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
a. Perform psychiatric initial assessments on all new patients in the CSU and evaluations and medication management on all established patients in the CSU daily. b. Provides medication management to the patients in the CSU. Prescribe medications under physician’s supervision. Informs patients of indications, benefits and risk of medications. Obtains Orders for appropriate labs. c. Medically clears patients when admitted and discharged from the CSU. d. Attends Medical Staff meeting as scheduled. e. Attends Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee meetings as scheduled. f. Provides training/supervision to the nursing staff in the CSU in regards to clinical/medical needs. g. Works with CSU Medical Director and Program manager to ensure that the CSU works within outlined goals and objectives. h. Be available for immediate consultation in person, via telephone, by email, or other electronic means during business hours or when on-call to physician i. Participate in quarterly Peer Reviews and maintain standard in reviews that are acceptable to other colleagues. j. Respond to medical codes and conduct them according to the standards of medical care and within expertise.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Reports Directly to the Medical Director or designee. Maintains good communication with the CSU Nurse Program Manager and staff to achieve goals. Maintains good communication with referring providers and will provide medical provider-to-physician reviews as requested. Serves as an agency representative at community events as assigned. Acts as a liaison in any external events.
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications, Education, and Training:
a. Maintain training through E-Learning (Relias) program of Serenity BHS. b. Masters’ Degree that results in licensure as a Nurse Practitioner. c. Maintain the number of continuing medical education hours as required by the State Medical Board and Serenity BHS. d. Maintain current documentation on delegating and supervising physician as required. B.
Competencies/Technical Requirements:
a. Maintain current State Medical License and DEA License while employed at Serenity BHS. b. Document notes according to the accepted format of Serenity Behavioral Health Systems. C.
Managerial Experience:
a. None Required. D. Expectations regarding quality and quantity of work: a. Complete all required annual/bi-annual trainings as required through DBHDD and CARF. b. Provides a compassionate, therapeutic environment for individuals to express their thoughts, feelings, and insights regarding their psychiatric care. Will attend treatment team meeting to discuss cases and demonstrate competencies in different clinical situations. Will discuss cases to demonstrate that standards of care are being met and that patients are managed safely and effectively. e. 100% completion of medication consent forms/documentation. f. Meets or exceeds all quality indicators set forth by supervisor. g. Submit any all documentation regarding licensure and ability to conduct services timely and upon request. h. Attends work schedule as assigned. i. Follows all policies and procedures regarding dress code. j. Follows all policies and procedures regarding utilization of PTO. k. Follows all policies and procedures regarding professional conduct and ethics. Abide by all Infection Control procedures. Must cooperate and participate in all disaster drills and fire drills. Report potential health, safety, and sanitization hazards in work area.
