DESCRIPTIONGENNERAL SUMMARY OFDUTIES
Responsible for providing primary care services, includingassessing and managing patients following established standards andpractices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs complete physical exam,obtains complete medical history and records findings. Ordersappropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Interprets andintegrates data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeuticplan.
Administers medications and injections in compliance withstate law and clinic guidelines. Sutures minorlacerations.
Instructs patient/family regarding medications andtreatments. Educates patients regarding health and illnessprevention. Recommends community resources to meet patient andfamily needs.
Collaborates with physician visits. Maintains andreviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
Posts tests and examination results. Triages patient telephonecalls and provides consultation.
Maintains patientconfidentiality.
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of professional nursing theory,practices, and regulations to give and evaluate patientcare.
Knowledge of how to use medical equipment and instruments toadminister patient care.
Knowledge of common safety hazards andprecautions to establish/maintain a safe work environment.
EDUCATIONREQUIRED
MSN and successful completion of an approved nursepractitioner program or a Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies(MPAS).Current Nurse Practitioner (NP) license or PhysicianAssistant (PA) license in State of Louisiana.
SKILLS:
Skill inapplying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques ofprofessional nursing to provide ongoing patient care.
Skill intaking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpretfinding.
ABILITIES
Ability to maintain quality controlstandards.
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencysituations.
Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines andprocedures.

ENVIROMENTAL/WORKING CONDITONS
Office setting. Frequenttelephone calls during the working hours. Frequent interruptions,which requires being able to hand a fast-paced work environmentduring entire time at work. Must be able to prioritize multipleprojects. Must maintain strict confidentiality and exerciseprofessionalism when interacting with staff, managers, supervisors,physicians, external customers, etc.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS
Requires continuous standing, bending, stretching, sitting, walkingand stooping while on duty. May be required to lift 50-100 pounds.
