Job Description
A Nurse Practitioner is needed for the Louisiana Center for Bleeding and Clotting Disorders (LCBCD). This position is pivotal to the mission of the LCBCD in providing its services with a concentrated initiative dedicated to the care of patients with blood disorders. This clinic serves as a vital resource for primary and specialty providers throughout the state of Louisiana who refer patients with complex bleeding and clotting disorders. A Nurse Practitioner with experience in pediatric/family health care is a vital component to the LCBCD being able to adequately establish a comprehensive care clinic. The LCBCD utilizes a comprehensive care model in the treatment of patients with a variety of hematologic conditions, with an emphasis on patients with bleeding and clotting disorders. We provide care for patients throughout the lifespan. We are a federally funded Hemophilia Treatment Center, and the only such program for adults in the state of Louisiana. We have clinic locations in New Orleans, Metairie, Lafayette, and Alexandria. The nurse practitioner will collaborate with the rest of the LCBCB team to provide exemplary care for our patients.
- Ability to implement the philosophy and objectives of the program.
- Ability to make comprehensive accurate assessments and decisions and plan care in accordance with assessments.
- Extensive knowledge of current medical, rehabilitative and nursing care techniques
- Ability to work collaboratively with the clinic and center staff.
- Ability to function independently and recognize when consultation is appropriate.
- Ability to interpret physical findings and refer or treat/manage the patient as the condition or protocol dictates.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals or groups in providing health education.
- Ability to work collaboratively with community and sponsoring agencies in cooperation with the community.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to work nontraditional hours as requested or required
- Completion of an ANA-approved Nurse Practitioner program with national certification.
- Louisiana licensure to practice professional nursing plus recognition or licensure by the State Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by the date of hire.
- Three years of full-time professional clinical nurse experience.
