JobDescription:

This position is fully responsible for the physicalassessment, diagnosis, treatment and/or referral, teaching andfollow-up of clients. The practice includes adult and adolescentmedicine, and gynecology. Direct Patient Care Demonstrate clinicalknowledge and competency in diagnosis, treatment and follow-up ofpatients. Demonstrate expertise in technical skills and exhibitssound clinical judgment. Maintain and manage patients utilizinglab, x-ray and other diagnostic testing in an appropriate, costeffective manner. Perform phlebotomy, and other lab collection tocomplete patient lab orders. Independently prescribe and / oradminister appropriate medication, corrective measures, and medicaltherapeutics. Utilize internal/external consultations wisely andappropriately. Coordinate with outside providers to assure forcontinuity of care. Collaborate with physicians regarding complexmedical problems and initiated treatment as appropriate. Initiateemergency treatment of acute medical problems and consult with acollaborating physician or refer to urgent care or emergency roomas appropriate. Provide patient education to assure recovery andprevention of illness. Conduct patient follow up may include afterhours or weekend phone calls. Maintain clinical documentations onall patient encounters completely and in a timely manner includingdocumentation of phone calls, prescriptions and results reporting.

Preserve and protect patients’ rights of confidentiality. Withpatient permission, communicate with family and/or other Universitydepartments such as athletics, professors, and academic support,Dean of Students and other applicable individuals/departments toassure for safe recovery and best possible timely recovery andreturn to academic endeavors. Prioritize tasks and meets clinicalobjectives. Organize and handle scheduled caseload in a timelymanner. Demonstrate willingness to assist colleagues/staff indifficult/overloaded situations in the interest of providingquality service to the patients and achieving harmony and good workflow in the practice. Administrative Support Support administrativework of the office of Health Service which includes contributing toefficient office functions, patient flow, divisional and externalcommunication to assure for quality health care. Contribute to theoptimal function of Health Service with a willingness to considergroup needs above self needs, works cooperatively with all staffwhile maintaining enthusiasm and positive relationships with othersto accomplish the job goals and objectives. Staff OversightParticipate in ongoing direction and oversight of clinical supportstaff in a manner consistent with their training and ability byprovide teaching, guidance, and meaningful feedback to enhanceprofessional growth. These positions include the Medical Assistantand Registered Nurse. Oversee care provided by the registered nurseand is available as a referral source to manage illnesses requiringmore intensive clinical evaluation and treatment. AdditionalFunctions Serve on committees such as Alcohol task force, SexualAssault task force, Eating Disorder Committee. Contribute to campuswide initiatives such as smoking cessation, Peer training,immunization and communicable disease control. Provide questlectures as need in academic classes or for campus clubs andorganizations. Maintain current medical knowledge throughattendance at appropriate medical education programs. Participatein intra-office quality assurance with chart review and case studypresentation. Attend provider meetings. Respect and maintainconfidentiality, parameters of operation, professional protocols,and individual privacy. Volunteer to assist at major Universityevents such as commencement, convocation, and orientation.

Requirements:

Registered Nurse with Master’s Degree in Nursing.

Minimum of two year’s nursing experience. Certification as an Adultor Family Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive privileges. CPRCertified. State licensure as a Nurse Practitioner withprescriptive privileges. Available to provide after-hours patientfollow up on an as needed as basis. Ability to utilize electronicmedical records system. Preferred Qualifications Three to fiveyears as a nurse practitioner with experience in college health. Awide range of clinical experience is important for competency inthis role. Areas of experience preferably should include generalinternal medicine, gynecology, mental health issues, orthopedicsand urgent care/emergency medicine. At the University’s discretion,the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted wherethe candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of theUniversity, an equivalent combination of education and experiencespecifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
