POSITION SUMMARY
Anna Maria Colleges Health Services seeks a Part-Time Nurse Practitioner to provide preventative outpatient health care, triage, and treatment to students. Health Services at Anna Maria College supports students’ well-being and success by assisting them in maintaining good physical and emotional health. We believe in a holistic approach to health and our goal is to provide students with the tools necessary to be healthy in mind, body, and spirit. The office provides information on disease prevention, programming tools for optimizing a healthy lifestyle and provides care for acute and minor illnesses and injuries. Anna Maria College Health Services operateswithin applicable laws and regulations of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the Student Health Service’s treatment capabilities, and according to the College’s Catholic mission. Ensures compliance with the state and federal regulations. Please note this is a part-time, 15-20 hour/ week position with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2025.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
:
- Coordinates nursing care for acute and chronic health care needs.
- Make necessary referrals and following up as appropriate with other providers and health resources, such as the Counseling Center, pharmacies, specialists, students’ primary care providers, emergency departments, laboratory/diagnostic centers, dentists, etc. and with agencies such as the state Department of Public Health where indicated.
- Educates students on health matters, such as self-care; disease prevention; stress management; healing from illness, injury, and loss; living with chronic conditions; using health insurance; and navigating the health care system.
- Consistently and accurately communicates and documents care and other health service information in student records, and in any applicable department documents and databases.
- Adheres to College policy as well as state and federal laws and regulations regarding the confidentiality and the privacy of personal health information.
- Adheres to College policy supporting Catholic teaching about the dignity of human life in the compassionate provision of health care.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Practice bounded by law and certification requirements, supportive of Catholic teaching, and additionally bounded by the capabilities of the department (outpatient college health setting providing selected services, collaboration with other providers and referring as appropriate)
- Interacts with a variety of other departments, agencies, and providers on and off campus, includes face to face, written, oral, electronic and virtual communication about health.
- Must be able to function independently in a clinical atmosphere for outpatient students
- Must be able to respond to medical emergencies and triage accordingly
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Current Massachusetts license to practice as a
- Nurse Practitioner (NP)
- Excellent interpersonal skills to support students and their families.
- Proficiency with electronic medical record documentation.
- Strong commitments to workplace honesty, integrity, direct communication, teamwork, collaboration, and professional ethics.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality according to requirements of the HIPPA, FERPA, and College policies
- Must hold current
