Mid Coast Hospital has an opening for a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to provide psychiatric care as part of our consult-liaison service. In this role, the provider will assist with psychiatric consultations in the emergency department and on medical floors, with additional responsibility to support coverage needs on the inpatient psychiatric unit. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with a collaborative team across a variety of settings, addressing acute psychiatric needs and supporting continuity of care throughout the hospital. The provider will work under the full supervision of a psychiatrist, with regular case review, guidance, and oversight.

Schedule:

The hours are 9 AM to 3 PM, four days a week. Hybrid options may be considered depending on the candidate.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degreewith an advanced knowledge of nursing theory and practice, and additional medical training.
1+ years of patient care in a community mental health center or hospital as an RN or provider. PMHNP graduates who meet this requirement will be considered.
Advanced skill and knowledge in conducting psychiatric evaluations and treating patients.
Current and valid license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant by the Maine State Board of Licensure and qualified to do psychiatric evaluations and medication management.
Specific credentialing criteria needed if working in the hospital as defined by Medical Staff By-Laws.
