- 401(k) and Pension Plan The BJHSurgical and Wound Care Center (SWCC) is a part of the nationallyrecognized BJC HealthCare Organization and located at Barnes-JewishHospital.
SWCC provides acute and chronic wound and ostomy care,pre-surgical ssessment, post-surgical follow-up including bedsidedebridements, biopsies, advanced wound care, application of skinsubstitutes, and ordering diagnostic testing as needed. The SWCCworks closely with Vascular, Podiatry, Plastic Surgery,Orthopedics, Ortho foot/ankle, Colorectal, Oncology/Oncologysurgery, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, along with multiple otherservices. The center is staffed with Advanced Practice Nurses whohave a collaborative practice agreement with the Acute and CriticalCare Services (general and trauma surgeons). SWCC providesexcellent, compassionate care to individuals consistent with theircomplex wound/ostomy needs. Overview Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose TheNurse Practitioner is an advanced practice nurse who utilizes ahigh degree of knowledge, skill and competence in a specializedpatient care area. This position assesses, diagnose, prescribes,initiates plan of care and evaluates outcomes within the scope of aformal collaborative practice agreement with physician(s).Responsibilities
- Participates in professional development
- Manages the health care of patient populations with compassionthrough advanced health assessment, diagnosis, intervention, andevaluation in a collaborative practice agreement with a physician.
Prescriptive responsibilities are reviewed by collaborativephysician.
- Coordinates the care of patient populations, in acollaborative practice agreement with a physician, to ensurepromotion of health and wellness through education of patients andfamilies, coordination of services and placing referrals.
- Assesses development needs of staff and develops and deliversappropriate educational programs to meet staff needs.
- Developstreatment plans, treats patients with acute problems includingillnesses and minor injuries following a predetermined protocol ina collaborative practice agreement with a physician. MinimumRequirements Education
