ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides direct outpatient primary care to patients. Provides back-up and consultation for nursing staff, nursepractitioners, physician assistants, residents, medical studentsand other students. Prescribes medication utilizing clinic formulary for outpatients asfeasible. Act as the liaison with medical care resources when referral isneeded and the medical director is not available. Requisitions on and off-site lab and x-ray exams as needed. Assumes specified duties in the absence of the medicaldirector. Participates in continuing education activities on- and off-sitewhen appropriate and feasible. Participates in staff conferences to devise individual patient careplans, to revise and update clinic services, continuing qualityimprovement program and continuing education as appropriate. When there are no patients to be attended to, participates inpatient related activities. Participates in other related activities affecting the clinicprogram e.g. grant application requirements, committees,recruitment and orientation as well as performance improvementactivities, and peer review. Other duties may be assigned.
