The Hospital delivers and coordinates acontinuum of high-quality healthcare with the goal of improving thehealth of its communities. Advanced Practitioner Role Scope We areseeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant nocturnist tocare for patients in the Medical ICU (MICU) and Progressive CareUnit (PCU). The Advanced Practice Practitioner (APP) will be anintegral member of the care delivery team, including HospitalistPhysicians and APPs as well as Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine(PCCM) Physicians, Nursing, and Respiratory Therapy. The APP willbe the overnight provider caring for the MICU patients directlyensuring the appropriate patient care, documentation, and continueprogression of care with reviewing and interpreting lab and imagingstudies, and bedside rounding with RNs and RTs, and performing ICUprocedures including central lines and arterial lines andcollaborating with the on-call intensivist and hospitalist. The APPwill partner with the Hospitalist Nocturnist to take new ICUadmissions and can facilitate early consultations with PCCM, aswell as coordinating patient transfers to higher level of carefacilities as needed. The APP will also perform night bedsiderounds on PCU patients, and partner with Nursing Supervisor toevaluate patients who may be eligible to stepdown out of PCU levelof care. Additionally, the APP will respond to all Rapid Responseand CardioPulmonary Response codes for all inpatients.

.This provider will average 3 12 hour 7p-7a day shifts per week (36hours). Provider should anticipate working 1 weekend a month onaverage. - Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant /Nurse Practitioner Master’s program
- Licensed, or eligible to belicensed, as a Physician Assistant / Advanced Practice RegisteredNurse (APRN) in the state of Connecticut
- Certification oreligible to be certified as a Physician Assistant or Acute CareBoard Certification APRN
- Preferably one year of experience ofinpatient or ICU medicine, however new graduates may be consideredwith pertinent previous clinical (non provider level) experience
- Strong clinical acumen and communication skills with otherproviders, ancillary staff, patients and families. The ability toadapt quickly, embrace a culture of change and evolution to helpdevelop best practices in this evolving position.
- Intellectualmaturity and team focus working with a number of different teammembers.
