JOB SUMMARY
The Occupational Health Program Nurse Practitioner (NP) is primarily responsible for clinical and administrative operations involved in the delivery of occupational health services, including medical surveillance, consultation services associated with clinical care and monitoring for a range of exposures, and worker’s compensation care. This individual also supervises the RN working in the occupational health program. Other duties as assigned.

Occupational Health Program Clinical Care:
Provide patient-focused medical consulting based on exposures. Reccomends and orders immunizations, administers and interprets tests such as audiograms, spirometry, TB screenings, vision tests, and respirator fit testing. Monitors employee exposures to hazardous materials and supports the implementation of exposure control plans. Participates in ergonomic assessments, safety audits, and wellness initiatives. Schedules and conduct baseline, periodic, and exit medical surveillance exams. Conducts post-exposure or
- injury evaluations and follow-up care (e.
g., needlestick injuries, chemical exposures). Delivers clinical care to patients via in-person and telehealth appointments in accordance with Joint Commission standards and applicable policies, procedures, and legal requirements; appropriately documents within the electronic health record for continuity of care; collaborates with other health center staff; adheres to regulatory and compliance standards. Occupational Health Program Coordination:
Coordinates medical surveillance programs (e.g., hearing conservation, respiratory protection, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous materials, and other exposure-related programs). Collaborates with campus partners to identify employees who require surveillance based on job duties, exposures, or regulatory requirements. Responsible for electronic health record management, including identifying risks and issues and creating appropriate corrective workflow actions. Tracks surveillance due dates, maintains compliance with mandated timelines, and generates reports for internal audits or regulatory inspections. Tracks and reports on occupational health metrics and trends; recommends improvements to reduce risk and enhance employee well-being. 10%

Develops and maintains professional relationships with community partners and stakeholder across South Carolina; participates in advisory boards and other compliance committee groups as appropriate; Collaborate with Human Resources, Occupational & Environmental Safety, Risk Services & Insurance and department managers on health-related policies and programs. Supervision:
Provides instruction and oversight to the RN staff working in occupational health. Coordinates NP and RN schedules and annually evaluates performance of the RN staff working in occupational health. Collaborates with RN to develop and deliver new programming and interventions based on identified needs and observed patterns. Ensures compliance with laws and developments related to the field of occupational health.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education
- 1st Master’s Degree
- SC State Board of Nursing and Accreditation by National Board for Nurse Practitioners Work Exp 1+ years

- 2nd Master’s Degree
- Family Nurse Practitioner
- Master’s or Doctoral level

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL
