Job Description Summary:
The Lead Nurse Practitioner (NP) for the Infusion Center plays a key leadership role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to patients receiving infusion therapies. This role combines advanced clinical responsibilities with administrative oversight, team mentorship, and quality improvement initiatives. The Lead NP ensures that care delivery is safe, efficient, compliant, and patient-centered, while also supporting and guiding the clinical team.

Job Responsibilities (listed in order of importance and/or time spent) Perform patient assessments and develop individualized care plans for patients receiving specialty infusion therapies. Provide patient education regarding medications, treatment goals, and self-care practices. Conduct pre-infusion evaluations and manage ongoing therapy assessments and follow-ups. Monitor patients for infusion-related reactions and manage adverse events according to protocols. Collaborate closely with physicians, pharmacists, and infusion nurses to ensure continuity and appropriateness of care. Provide patient education regarding medications, treatment goals, and self-care practices. Document all clinical encounters and communications accurately and in a timely manner. Serve as the clinical lead for the NP team for the Intramed Plus team Mentor and supervise other nurse practitioners, providing support and guidance on complex clinical cases. Coordinate provider coverage across multiple infusion center sites. Lead NP team meetings and facilitate communication between providers, nursing staff, and administrative leadership. Participate in provider recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluations. Develop and maintain clinical protocols and infusion-specific guidelines in collaboration with the medical and pharmacy teams. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies. Monitor quality indicators such as adverse event rates, patient satisfaction, and documentation compliance. Lead and support continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives focused on infusion therapy safety and efficiency. Collaborate in accreditation processes and external audits as needed. Provide in-services, training, and continuing education opportunities for NPs and clinical staff regarding infusion-related therapies and safety protocols. Stay current on new therapies, clinical guidelines, and best practices in infusion medicine. Foster a culture of learning and professional development. Supervisory Responsibilities Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? (i.e. hiring, recommending/approving promotions and pay increases, scheduling, performance reviews, discipline, etc.) No X Yes Basic Education and/or Experience Requirements Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited nurse practitioner program. Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in [state]. BLS certification. National board certification (FNP preferred). Minimum 5 years of nurse practitioner experience, with at least 2 years in an infusion, ambulatory, or specialty outpatient care setting. Experience with biologics, IVIG, and complex infusion therapy management highly desirable. Basic Qualifications Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills, particularly for infusion-related care. Excellent communication and team leadership skills. Proficient with EHR systems and clinical documentation standards. Familiarity with infusion center workflows, protocols, and safety practices. Ability to thrive in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. Physical Demand Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with a maximum lifting of 75 pounds. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. Physical demands may involve walking, standing, crouching, kneeling, turning, pivoting, balancing, stooping, reaching overhead, grasping, pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying. Fine motor skills and visual acuity required by this job include ability to see up close and from a distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Team members in this job classification have the likelihood of occupational exposure to blood, body fluids and other potentially infectious materials. Possible exposure to hazardous substances with possible effect on reproduction, injury from needles, other sharps, fumes, chemicals, humidity, cold, heat, adverse weather elements, animals, secondhand smoke/vape and unpredictable home environments. Safety requirements include closed toe-shoes, facemask, goggles, gown and/or gloves and functioning device for communication in both routine and emergency situations.
Travel Requirements:
(if required) Ability to travel between local infusion centers as needed to help with coverage, training, etc. Preferred Qualifications & Interests (PQIs) Infusion Nursing Society (INS) certification or CRNI Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred. Due to state pay transparency laws, the full range for the position is below: Salary to be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. Pay Range is $101,475.28
