Job Description
Description Key Responsibilities:
Provide after-hours coverage which includes at a minimum 8 shifts per month, some of which are required to be weekends.
[weekday shifts:
5p-8a, weekend/holiday shifts: 8a-8p and 8p-8a]. Triage incoming calls from community partners (DCS, LE, medical providers). Provide acute forensic medical evaluations when indicated at the Our Kids Center or Vanderbilt Pediatric Emergency Department. Perform forensic medical evaluations on children and adolescents (birth to 15 years of age) with concerns of acute sexual abuse or assault as part of a multidisciplinary team. Collaborate with law enforcement, Department of Children’s Services, and other community partners during sexual abuse investigations. Write detailed reports and provide court testimony when required. Adapt interactions to meet the developmental, cultural, and special needs of each child and family.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program Master’s Degree required.
Licensure:
Current TN Advanced Practice Nursing or Physician Assistant License.
Certification:
as Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Physician Assistant by national certifying body acceptable to the State of Tennessee Board of Nursing. One (1) year recent pediatric experience and 1 year APN/PA experience with pediatric population preferred. Sexual assault examination experience strongly preferred. Broad knowledge of family violence and child abuse issues plus knowledge of the criminal justice and child protection systems desirable. Why Join the
