Job Summary:

An allied health professional, employed by Erlanger Health Systems, who performs as a physician extender by providing direct and indirect patient care in an outpatient setting under orders of the attending physician and any others as defined by the Collaborative agreement the NP/PA has with the collaborating physician and within the guidelines of the current legislation of the State of Tennessee. This position involves providing high quality care in a fast-paced clinical environment The NP/PA will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing and managing patients with a variety of dermatologic conditions. Responsibilities include performing general dermatology procedures such as skin biopsies, incision/drainage, cryotherapy, etc., This role is a full-time day shift position. This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee guidelines. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practices’ patient population. Participates in the practice’s quality improvement process and performance evaluation.

Required Education:

Graduate of a Physician Assistant Program accredited by the American Academy of Physician Assistant OR Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN), Nurse Practitioner. BS/BA required.

Preferred Experience:

At least 1 year of prior of Dermatology experience is preferred Position Requirement(s):

License/Certification/Registration Required:

Current licensure to practice as a NP/PA in the state of Tennessee. BLS completed prior to going to the unit/department and maintained going forward

Department Position Summary:

An allied health professional, employed by Erlanger Health Systems, who performs as a physician extender by providing direct and indirect patient care in an outpatient setting under orders of the attending physician and within the guidelines of the current legislation of the State of Tennessee. Employee will have significant interaction with residents and faculty of UT Family Practice Residency Program, thus allowing the program to be an additional training tool in the area of preparing residents to work with physician extenders The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate of the age of the patients served by UT Family Practice Center. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development relative to his or her age-specific needs and to provide care needed as described in the center’s policies and procedures.
