$5000 Sign On BonusJob Summary The Senior Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as anexperienced caregiver to the resident during the scheduled workperiod in long term care. Demonstrates expert level experience as acertified nursing assistant and assists other staff as needed.
Provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistanceto assigned resident under the supervision of a registered nurse(RN). Knowledge of and delivers age-appropriate care related to thephysical and psychological needs of the resident as per care plan.
Considered a member of the nursing team and is expected to know,and will be held accountable for, following infection preventionand control policies and Personal Protective Equipment use. Oftenworks as a support to other clinical staff in addition to assumingown responsibilities. Leads in problem solving and maintaining highaccountability. Provides assistance with basic health care needsincluding daily living activities that may include, but are notlimited to, bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing,obtaining and recording vital signs, and providing psychosocialsupport and other personal care to assigned resident. Assists theresident in transferring, repositioning, and walking using correctand appropriate transfer techniques and equipment and also providesrange of motion and passive exercises. Completes tasks related tofood preparation and dining, while creating a positive diningexperience for the resident. Assists residents with meals andsnacks, provides water and supplements as appropriate. The NA aidsproviders and nursing staff members with procedures, if needed.
Documents resident interactions as needed and the outcomes relatedto resident care, behavior, activity, and dietary. Communicatesresident’s changing condition and care related concerns/responsesto the charge nurse. Collects non-invasive body fluid specimens andgathers vital signs. Provides housekeeping and laundry services toassist residents with keeping living areas clean and operational.
Provides assistance and documentation with wellness andrecreational programs and encourages residents to participate. Mayparticipate in departmental/organization committees and task forcesas needed. May be responsible for completing tasks related to theRestorative Nursing program (including documentation, schedulingand leading restorative programs. Qualifications High schoolgraduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but notrequired. Minimum age of 16. Two years’ clinical or nursingassistant experience in long-term care preferred. RequiredCertified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the StateBoard of Nursing. Satisfactorily completes yearly departmentspecific competency testing and maintains a record of continuingeducation credits for each year. A minimum of 12 hours continuingeducation are required annually. Maintains all department specificrequired certifications. May be required to complete theRestorative Nursing training within 6 months. When applicable, forapplicable states, certified and registered with the UnlicensedAssistive Person (UAP) Registry. Dependent on facility and requiredresponsibilities, this role may classify as a Sanford Category IIDriver requiring a motor vehicle report and proof of valid driver’slicense. Also must be medically qualified to perform the essentialdriving functions of this position as per our Sanford DrivingPolicy per the leaders request.
