POSITION SUMMARY
The Nurse Aide performs activities which assist the patient inmeeting basic human needs and activities of daily living under thedirection of the RN or LPN. Performs additional competencies toenhance coordination and collaboration of patient care under thedirection of the RN or LPN. Ensures accurate and clearcommunication to patients, families, and other employees at alltimes, assisting with other duties as needed to maintain a safe andclean environment. Maintains an accurate medical record. Reports tothe Clinical Nurse Manager.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
High Schoolgraduate or equivalent. Successful completion of certified nursingassistant program is preferred but not required. OR ActiveCertified Nurse Assistant certification upon hire. Completion ofclassroom education on Nurse Aide competencies and writtenverification of such competencies in the clinical area requiredwithin the new employee introductory orientation period andmaintain clinical competency during employment with ECHN in thisrole. Must have certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support uponhire or receive certification within the new employee introductoryorientation period and maintain clinical competency duringemployment with ECHN in this role.
COMPETENCIES
Must be able toread and communicate effectively in English. Basic Computer skillsare necessary.

Collects, reports, and assists in documentationof data. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environmentthat optimizes patient safety and promotes positive patientoutcomes. Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized andfunction under stressful situations. Communicates appropriately andclearly to team leader, coworkers and other members of the healthcare team. Performs other duties as assigned, to promote efficientfunctioning of the unit. Transports patients safely to otherdepartments and upon admission and discharge, as necessary.
Communicates appropriately and clearly to charge nurse, coworkersand other members of the health care team. Perform duties asoriented, including removal of a saline lock, removal of a Foleycatheter, pulse oximetry, emptying a Jackson-Pratt drain, telemetryapplication and performing EKGs, disconnect/reconnect salem sump,glucose meter, measure and record nasogastric drainage and/or otherduties as assigned.
