A Brief Overview Performs selectedmedical assistant and clerical duties that assist in care forclinic patients following established standards, practices, andcompetency. Works collaboratively with other clinic staff to solvepractice-related problems. Demonstrates knowledge of the principlesof growth and development and possesses the ability to respond tospecific issues and data reflective of the patient/customer’sstatus. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to providecare for the population served in the department. What you willdo Assists in care to patients as directed by provider based oncompetency. Provides accurate, completed, legible and timely documentationof all patient procedures in the medical record. Maintains timely flow of patients. Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests.

Responsible for assisting with patient and family education toinclude procedures, medication use, nutrition, disease processes,and maintenance of health and wellness, etc., based oncompetency. Greets patients and conducts clinical interview collectinghistory and vital signs. Labels and processes lab specimens according to labprocedures. Maintains exam room for necessary supplies and materials.

Performs daily and weekly environmental cleaning and equipmentquality control and maintenance. Cleans and sterilizes medicalequipment according to policy. Follows correct procedures forhandling and disposing of bio-hazardous infectious waste. Provided back-up help for front desk personnel. This mayinclude answering telephone, scheduling and cancellingappointments, and scheduling consult patients. EssentialQualifications The individual must be able to work the hoursspecified. To perform this job successfully, an individual must beable to perform each essential job function satisfactorilyincluding having visual acuity adequate to perform position dutiesand the ability to communicate effectively with others, hear,understand and distinguish speech and other sounds.
