A Brief Overview Performs selected medical assistant and clerical duties that assistin care for clinic patients following established standards,practices, and competency. Works collaboratively with other clinicstaff to solve practice-related problems. Demonstrates knowledge ofthe principles of growth and development and possesses the abilityto respond to specific issues and data reflective of thepatient/customer’s status. Demonstrates the knowledge and skillsnecessary to provide care for the population served in thedepartment. What you will do Assists in care to patients as directed by provider based oncompetency. Provides accurate, completed, legible and timely documentationof all patient procedures in the medical record. Maintains timely flow of patients. Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests.
Responsible for assisting with patient and family education toinclude procedures, medication use, nutrition, disease processes,and maintenance of health and wellness, etc., based oncompetency. Greets patients and conducts clinical interview collectinghistory and vital signs. Labels and processes lab specimens according to labprocedures. Maintains exam room for necessary supplies and materials.
Performs daily and weekly environmental cleaning and equipmentquality control and maintenance. Cleans and sterilizes medicalequipment according to policy. Follows correct procedures forhandling and disposing of bio-hazardous infectious waste. Provided back-up help for front desk personnel. This mayinclude answering telephone, scheduling and cancellingappointments, and scheduling consult patients. Essential Qualifications The individual must be able to work the hours specified. To performthis job successfully, an individual must be able to perform eachessential job function satisfactorily including having visualacuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability tocommunicate effectively with others, hear, understand anddistinguish speech and other sounds.
