A Brief Overview The Nurse Assistant is in training to become a Certified NurseAssistant. The Nurse Assistant will provide direct, personal careand services to residents in the skilled nursing facility, whichmeet the physical academical, social and spiritual needs on a dailybasis to maintain and improve their highest level of independentfunction. What you will do In training to become Nurse Assistant certified and/orMedication Aide certified. Provides assistance to residents with their activities of dailyliving. Performs routine and non-routine duties as directed by nursingstaff. This may includes but not limited to assisting patients withbathing and dressing needs, shaving, oral hygiene, bed making,transfers into and out of bed, repositioning, toileting needs,serving and collecting food trays, encouraging and/or assistingwith feeding, answering call lights, insuring a clean environment,transporting patients upon admission and dismissal, assisting withambulation and orienting/reorienting of resident to the facilityenvironment to insure resident safety. Performs blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration andweight. Documents concise and factual information on theappropriate forms. Performs or assists residents in performing specific medicalcare activities in accordance with established policy and procedureto contribute to the patient’s plan of care. This includesassisting residents in performing restorative exercises, collectingspecimens as directed by nursing staff. Assessing and documentingcompleted cares. Provides feedback to nursing staff immediately onstatus or changes in patient conditions, pain management, and otherimportant concerns. Assists with restocking supplies and maintaining appropriatework environment in unit including cleaning procedures. Participates in providing emotional, educational and spiritualsupport for families. Complies with all aspects of resident rights includingconfidentiality and privacy. Report all allegations of residentabuse or misappropriation of resident property. Understands and follows established policy and proceduresrelated to fire, tornado, evacuation, disaster plan, universalprecautions, infection control procedures, hazardous and chemicalcommunication program. Maintains an environment that is clean andsafe for all residents, families and staff. Essential Qualifications The individual must be able to work the hours specified. To performthis job successfully, an individual must be able to perform eachessential job function satisfactorily including having visualacuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability tocommunicate effectively with others, hear, understand anddistinguish speech and other sounds.
