Description
Under general supervision of the Patient Access Manager and following established policies and procedures, gathers and records all appropriate information. Depending on area assigned, responsible for interviewing patients to obtain demographic and confidential clinical/financial information necessary to appropriately, register, obtain treatment authorizations, and verify insurance eligibility and corresponding benefit levels. May work directly with medical staff, nursing, ancillary departments, insurance carriers and other external professionals to assist patients in obtaining health care and financial services. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital. Understanding of patient rights and the importance of privacy in healthcare settings.
Extensive knowledge of patient access operations, including the check-in process, insurance verification, and scheduling.
Proficiency in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, scheduling software, and patient management systems
Knowledge of effective team management strategies and conflict resolution.
Ability to develop and implement training programs for new and existing team members.
Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to collaborate effectively with other departments, including clinical teams, billing, and IT, to ensure seamless patient access processes.
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or GED
Work Experience
One (1) year experience in Patient Access/Accounts setting
