Role:
Sanctuary Plastic Surgery is looking for an individual who is interested in working a hybrid position as a medical assistant and an OR Nurse . The ideal team member would be highly motivated, professional, courteous, customer service oriented. With the right candidate this position will offer growth and assist the plastic surgeon in a multitude of different capacities.
Requirements :
RN PACU experience required. Aesthetic or cosmetics experience preferred. Current BLS certification required, ACLS preferred
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
Know the name, use and location of medications, supplies and equipment. Familiar with the use of sterilizer, ultrasonic instrument cleaner, lights, cautery unit, laser, suction, defibrillator, etc. Familiar with organizational policies and procedures. Understand all duties and functions of the pre/post-operative nurse, recovery room nurse, circulating nurse, and scrub nurse technician, sterilization. Know the facility layout and the purpose of the various departments: reception and administration area, dressing rooms, clean and dirty utility room, operating room, recovery room, patient waiting room and consultation areas. Ensure compliance with regulations and the facility’s standards of quality patient care. Assist in the operating room set-up with the necessary supplies and equipment for each surgical procedure. Assist in the operating room clean-up and decontamination after each surgery. Handle and dispose of Biomedical Waste according to policies and procedures. Assist the physician in completing the pre-operative interview consultation and assessing a variety of patient needs. Assist physicians with all examinations including consultation, follow-ups and post ops. Familiar with all forms and documents used for patient care and charting. Process and send specimens to the lab. Communicate and interpret physician’s instructions to patients. Suggest a solution to patient crises, problems and complaints. Follow strict traffic control and maintain sterile field and technique in operating and recovery room. Assist physician during surgery. Ensure a smooth flow in the operating room including closure of all wound layers (fascia, subcutaneous and skin) as per surgeon’s directive. Assist in retracting tissues by surgeon’s directive. Coordinate patient care activities for scheduling procedures. Use of electrocautery both monopolar and bipolar. Clamp, ligation and cutting of tissue, per surgeon’s directive. Assist in placement and suturing of surgical drains. Always maintain strict aseptic technique. Inventory stock and order supplies. Identify and resolve operational problems. Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested. Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliation. Maintain patient confidentiality. Perform related work as required.
Clinic Role and Responsibilities include:
Room patient in a timely and comfortable manner Verify patient information and confirm reason for visit Review and record medical history and medications – document in patient chart Prepare patient for examination, measure vital signs Assist physician during medical exam, documenting treatment plan Photograph patients for chart Prepare patient for treatment – numbing, sterile prep Suture removal and wound checks Assist with office procedures, post-ops, biopsies, excisions, sterile technique and set-up Prepare specimens for laboratory analysis Sterilize exam room and instruments Assist in ordering prescriptions and reminders Schedule appointments and surgeries Explain procedures, provide consents and post care instructions to patients in a thoughtful, caring manner This role requires the following soft skills: Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public. Ability to communicate clearly and to carry out orders quickly and effectively.
