Job Description

Home Health Office Assistant/CNA 3.7 3.7 out of 5 stars 8400 Vamo Road, Sarasota, FL 34231 Bay Village of Sarasota is hiring an Office Assistant/CNA to provide office assistance to the Home Health Manager and provide personal health care services for a resident in their apartment under the supervision of the Home Health Manager. To accompany residents to outside appointments as needed.

BACKGROUND QUALIFICATIONS

1. CNA certification 2. Previous experience as a CNA is preferred. 3. Current Basic First Aid and CPR certificates. 4. Must be able to read, write and speak English in order to work independently and to communicate with the residents.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Responsible to the Home Health Manager. 2. Follows established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment. 3. Follow written plan of care established by the Home Health Coordinator/or an RN. 4. Provide personal care in the apartment that includes assisting the resident with personal hygiene, ambulation, and eating, dressing and physical transfers. 5. Responsible to be productive while working for a resident. (i.e., reading aloud, carrying on conversation with the resident, taking the initiative to perform household chores such as housekeeping, laundry, kitchen work, or other routine household activity while resident is sleeping, etc.) 6. Observe and report a change of condition in the resident to the licensed nurse in charge 7. Understand and give resident care according to all policies and procedures. 8. Able to take vital signs and identify changes that must be reported to the charge nurse, e.g., chest pain, change in speech, refusal to eat, unresponsive, complaints of dizziness, falls, bleeding, skin breakdown and unusual behaviors. 9. Demonstrates skills in dressing/undressing, bathing, toileting/incontinence care, ambulating and feeding residents. 10. Demonstrates range of motion exercises. 11. Demonstrates proper transfers to/from bed, chair, and whirlpool. 12. Demonstrates good positioning techniques to prevent pressure ulcers. 13. Demonstrates proper operation of lifts and specialty beds. 14. Demonstrates proper catheter care and peri-care. 15. Understands and documents intake and output as required. 16. Maintains a clean, safe environment. Resident rooms to be neat, tidy and hazard free . 17. Demonstrates good hand washing techniques. 18. Shows understanding and use of Universal Precautions at all times and Contact Precautions as ordered. 19. Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the unit and shift. 20. Completes documentation of food percentages, fluid intake, bowel and bladder sheets and activities of daily living, in a timely manner. 21. Able to verbalize steps to be taken in emergency situations, e.g., fire, bomb threat, hurricane, or evacuation. 22. Treat each resident in a manner conducive to health, safety, comfort and dignity. 23. Housekeeping duties (daily care of residents, physical environment, terminal care) in absence of Housekeeping. 24. Accompanies the client on trips and outings that may include shopping, doctor visits or recreation. 25. Assists other team members as needed. 26. Ensure Home Health employees are scheduled. 27. Assists Home Health Manager in developing efficient work functions and procedures. 28. Assist with recording monthly charges for residents. 29. Assist with preparation of statements for insurance claims. 30. Provide additional office support as needed-filing, copying, general office tasks. 31. Demonstrates good personal boundaries and follows HIPPA regulations. 32. Perform other tasks as assigned by Home Health Manager. Must be able to pass a Level II Background Check and a
