Bon Secours by Compassus Position Summary The Inpatient Unit Hospice Aide is responsible for modeling theCompassus values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork,and Innovation and for promoting the Compassus philosophy, usingthe 6 Pillars of Success as the foundation. S/he is responsible forupholding the Code of Ethical Conduct and for promoting positiveworking relationships within the company, among all departments,and all external stakeholders. The Inpatient Unit Hospice Aideinsures that the center is maintained in a clean and sanitarycondition at all times to provide for the care and welfare of thecustomers in a healthful environment. In addition, s/he ensuresthat good housekeeping services are performed in every departmentof the center and are planned in cooperation with the departmenthead. This role may also fill in as needed as a Hospice Aide-HouseMother. Position Specific Responsibilities

  • Answers the “call button” from the patient.
  • Follows specific cleaning and service instructions as outlined bythe Hospice Director of Clinical Services.
  • Checks stock and notifies supervisor of supply needs.
  • Gives an assigned patient the attention needed to provide asanitary, odor free, orderly environment.
  • Assists with family needs and/or post mortem care at the time ofdeath.
  • Launders linens and clothing.
  • Sorts, counts, folds, marks, or carries linens.
  • Replenishes supplies such as drinking glasses and writingsupplies.
  • Replenishes bathroom supplies.
  • Completes all assignments scheduled in a timely manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. Education and/or Experience
  • High school diploma or GED highly preferred.
  • One (1) to three (3) months related experience and/or traininghighly preferred. An equivalent combination of education andexperience will be considered. Skills
Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, anddivide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, commonfractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, andpercentage.

    Language Skills:

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret generalbusiness periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures,or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, businesscorrespondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectivelypresent information and respond to questions from leaders, teammembers, investors, and external parties. Strong written and verbalcommunications.

      Other Skills and Abilities:

      Ability to understand, read, write,and speak English. Articulates and embraces hospice philosophy.

      Strong organizational and time management skills. Must be able towork a flexible schedule to include nights and weekends. Must beable to travel. Must be able to tend the geriatric and theterminally ill. Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

      • Certified Nursing Assistant highly preferred.
      • In states where licensure is not required (AL, AZ, CT, GA, IA,IL, KS, LA, MA, ME, MI, MS, MT, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, TN, TX, WV),applicants must meet one of the following:
      • They are already a licensed/certified aide; or
      • They have completed a state-approved nurse aide training programAND have been continuously employed in that capacity for theprevious 24 months
      • Current CPR certification required.
      Physical Demands and Work Environment:

      The demands of this rolenecessitate a team member to effectively perform essentialfunctions. Adaptations can be made to accommodate team members withdisabilities. Regular standing, walking, and manual dexterity arefundamental, along with the ability to lift and move objects up to50 pounds. Visual acuity requirements include close and distancevision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and theability to adjust focus. In a healthcare setting, exposure tobodily fluids, infectious diseases, and conditions typical to thefield is expected. Routine use of standard medical equipment andtools associated with clinical care is essential.
