Description Summary:
Under the direct supervision of aRegistered Nurse/licensed Nurse, this position will assist withroutine and repetitive patient care activities in a nursing unit.
This position also performs specific clerical, organizational, andpatient-focused activities. The patient-focused tasks will besupportive in nature.

Competencies:
Leader of Self, Leader ofOthers, or Leader of Leaders. Assists with the admission, transfer,and discharge of patients. Completes pertinent documents. Preparesrooms for admission by setting up IV pots, and adjusting bed to theappropriate level. Assures that all patient belongings accompanythe patient to the new unit or home at time of discharge. Safelytransports stable patients as required. Maintainssecurity/confidentiality when transporting patients and interactingwith family and visitors. Cleans, procures and returns equipmentand supplies. Run errands for the unit as required. Assist Licensedpersonnel in providing a safe and comfortable environment at alltimes; replenish patient room with water, linen, and towels, asappropriate. Perform unit-specific patient care tasks in accordancewith the skills checklist and documents on the flowsheet. Identifyobvious changes in the patient’s condition and take responsibilityfor reporting those changes promptly to the nurse in charge. Assistwith the ordering and maintenance of stock items according toestablished inventory when needed. Keeps unit supplies in anorganized and orderly fashion. Respond appropriately toemergencies. Communicate effectively with other team members duringand between shifts. Responds to phone calls and patient calllights. Appropriately adapt assigned patient assessment, treatment,and/or care methods to accommodate the unique physical,psychosocial, cultural, age-specific, and other developmental needsof each patient served. Demonstrates competence to perform assignedpatient care responsibilities in a manner that meets thepopulation-specific and developmental needs of patients served bythe department.
Job Requirements:
Education/Skills High SchoolDiploma or equivalent preferred. Experience Patient care experiencein an acute care setting is preferred. Licenses, Registrations, orCertifications CNA License in state of employment required. BLSrequired.
