Job Description
DESCRIPTION
Southeastern is seeking an assistant school nurse for the 2024-2025 school year. The successful candidate will support the two existing school nurses and provide health services that bridge the regular high school program, the after-school vocational program, and student extracurricular activities.
The Schedule:
This is a school-year position. Anticipated hours are 8:00 AM-4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. These hours could change based on the needs of the District.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide first aid and other general nursing care.
Dispense prescription medication.
Maintain health records, incident reports, and other documentation.
Practice clinical skills and duties, as required and as directed by the school nurses.
Conduct health screenings, e.g., vision and hearing.
Respond to health and safety emergencies in the absence of the school nurse and/or as directed by the school nurse.
Accompany students to the hospital, if necessary.
Maintain student health room.
Contact parents and other agencies, as appropriate.
Maintain the confidentiality of student information and records.
All other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of an Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program, college, or university. Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
Current and unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts.
Knowledge and understanding of teenagers and their health needs.
Demonstrated ability to work well in both team and independent work settings.
Proficiency or the ability to become proficient with the technology, software, and applications required to perform the essential functions of the position.
Such other qualifications and experience as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
