POSITION SUMMARY
The Certified Nursing Assistant role focuses on providing essential care and support to individuals within a group living environment. This position will work closely with individuals and their families to ensure their well-being and maintain their quality of life. Responsibilities include assisting with daily activities, monitoring health conditions, and promoting a safe and nurturing environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist individuals with bathing, dressing, and grooming
Help maintain personal hygiene and comfort
Monitor prescribed medications according to the care plan
Monitor medication schedules and document any changes
Document assessment and align goals with the Person-Centered Treatment Plan within the EHR (Electronic Health Record) system
Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality
Assist individuals with transferring in and out of bed or chairs
Ensure safe movement within the home
Prepare meals based on dietary requirements
Encourage proper nutrition and hydration
Regularly check vital signs (such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature)
Report any significant changes promptly
Engage in conversations and provide emotional comfort
Foster a positive and supportive environment
Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), crisis intervention and medication administration using agency-trained protocols
Maintain current state-mandated training and certifications
Housekeeping duties, including laundry, tidying up, and organizing
Ensure a clean and safe living space
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED required
Completion of a certified nursing assistant training program and a valid CNA license certification required
At least one year of experience as a certified nursing assistant preferred
Ability to adapt to various home environments
Effective communication with individuals and their families
Ability to work evening, weekend and holiday hours according to the team model and an on-call rotation will be required as necessary
Non-profit human service experience highly preferred
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities
Demonstrated strong attention to detail
Demonstrated strong time management and organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to anticipate future needed changes or identify problem areas and take effective actions
Must be able to perform CPR and crisis intervention using agency-trained protocols
Must possess excellent customer interaction, collaboration, presentation, and written and verbal communication
Basic experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Outlook preferred
