Job Description

Anticipated Hours:

8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. includes ½ hr. unpaid lunch (start and end times may vary, and part-time may be accepted)

GENERAL DUTIES

Responsible for providing assistance, including but not limited to administering student medications, first aid, and completing nursing clerical duties (including but not limited to inputting diagnoses, immunizations and physical examinations, and other electronic health record information and filing of hard copy medical records), under the direct supervision of the Nurse Leader and other school nurses.
Duties may include:
Assist with

COVID-19

screenings and contact tracing
Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living
Bathing; dressing
Feeding; keep a record of intake and output, as requested
Assist with toileting needs
Assist with personal hygiene
Assist with ambulation
Take and record vital signs; measure and record height and weight
Record Activities of Daily living on required data sheets
Observe students and staff and note physical condition, attitude, reactions, etc., and report any changes to the nurse
Use safety devices and standard precautions to prevent the spread of infection and disease
Monitor students with illness symptoms while waiting to be dismissed in designated space
Provides supervision and care for students in the medical waiting room (Comfort Room) or Nurse’s Clinic
Assist nurse in administering medications and providing first aid care
Demonstrate skillful use of stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, scale, wheelchairs, walkers, charts, standard precautions (gloves, goggles, masks, gowns), thermometers, and personal hygiene supplies
Complete nursing clerical duties, including but not limited, to inputting diagnoses, immunizations and physical examinations, and other electronic health record information and filing of hard copy medical records
Assist nurses with mandated school health screenings
Ensuring the safety of students as they use adaptive equipment
Completing parent communication logs and district documents as required
Participating in required professional development, such as restraint training, CPR/First Aid certification, and staff meetings and extended day sessions, as requested
Demonstrating flexibility when daily schedules change
Maintains student-specific materials, reinforcers, and programming in a neat and orderly manner
Completing other duties that are designated by the Nurse Leader, Building Administration or Director of Pupil Services
