At University Health, we’re looking for a compassionate and dependable Discharge Lounge Attendant to ensure that patients experience a safe, comfortable, and positive transition as they prepare to leave our care. This role is a vital part of our continuum of care-providing support, safety, and reassurance to patients during their final moments at the hospital.
About the Role
As a Discharge Lounge Attendant, you’ll be responsible for: Creating a safe, clean, and supportive space for patients who are awaiting transportation after discharge from hospital or clinic care Monitoring patient comfort, safety, and mobility while in the lounge Communicating effectively with nursing staff and transport teams Ensuring adherence to all safety protocols and infection prevention procedures Performing duties in alignment with University Health’s high standards for patient care
QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED
Current BCLS certification at time of hire (must be maintained for continued employment) Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) trainingOR meet one of the following competency requirements: Previous nursing licensure candidate within the past 3 years Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) per Missouri regulations EMT, Medical Assistant, or Surgical Tech training 2+ years of experience as a Nurse Assistant in the past 3 years or relevant clinical care experience Graduate of an international nursing program awaiting U.S. licensure exam Ability to provide compassionate, hands-on support to patients in a fast-paced environment Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
