The primary purpose of the Certified Nursing Assistant position is to ensure safety and quality treatment for the people residing in the Medical Care Unit through direct support and service implementation. The Certified Nursing Assistant is involved in supporting the individual in every aspect of his/her life. Each resident shall receive quality healthcare and treatment. This position provides direct support for those residents who are admitted to the Medical Care Unit due to illness, or to residents who reside within the Cedar/Willow area as directed by the Medical Care Unit RN with input from the area Nursing Supervisor. The Certified Nursing Assistant must be physically and mentally capable of providing eight hours of hands-on care and treatment to a population of active individuals who have developmental and physical disabilities. The position requires the ability to comprehend and implement verbal and written directions including residents’ person-centered plans. The Certified Nursing Assistant must be able to react quickly, under stressful situations to ensure the safety of residents and co-workers. The Certified Nursing Assistant must be able to provide basic care, leisure and vocational activities in group situations. The position must be able to accurately observe and record information. Primary responsibilities for this position, within the Medical Care Unit or in a home, include the following: Taking vital signs, performing Foley catheter care, tracheotomy care, and G-tube care, assistance with treatments, which may include applying ointments and colostomy bag care, assuring the physical and emotional well-being of assigned individuals, implementation of clients’ habilitation and training skills, cleaning of equipment, assistance with personal care, home living, socialization, leisure, and safety of individual, assistance with ADLs in living areas, transportation of clients to activities, classes, and appointments, assistance in providing emergency treatment for seizures or accidents, etc., housekeeping chores as specified, record keeping and documentation. To be considered for employment the applicant must be in good standing with the NC Health Care Personnel Registry. Employee will be required to successfully complete training through our Staff Development department which includes, but is not limited to NCI (North Carolina Intervention), CPR, Body Mechanics and lifting. The Certified Nursing Assistant position requires frequent lifting and bending. This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.
