Position Overview The Endoscopy RN Team Leader is responsible for the daily operations and clinical oversight of the Endoscopy Department. This role involves direct participation in procedures including scrubbing, circulating, monitoring, and documenting patient care. The Team Leader plays a key role in maintaining high standards for patient safety, quality outcomes, and overall departmental efficiency. This position requires strong clinical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to coordinate team workflows and scheduling. The Endoscopy RN Team Leader promotes a culture of compassion, respect, and excellence, and ensures compliance with all regulatory, safety, and organizational policies. Compensation is commensurate with education, experience, certification, and internal equity. Hiring compensation range starts from $30/hour.

Key Responsibilities Oversee the daily operations of the Endoscopy Department, including staffing and scheduling. Assist in endoscopy procedures by performing roles such as scrubbing, circulating, and patient monitoring. Maintain a safe, efficient, and patient-centered environment that meets clinical and regulatory standards. Ensure timely communication with physicians, patients, families, and staff. Foster a positive and collaborative work culture aligned with ARHS’s mission, vision, and values. Promote team accountability and effective delegation in alignment with licensure and best practices. Support onboarding and development of new staff. Address workflow issues and provide leadership under general supervision. Serve as a resource to other team members regardless of specific patient assignment. Position Requirements Minimum Education Graduate from an accredited nursing program BSN preferred Experience Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience Experience in a procedural area preferred 1 year of leadership or similar team coordination experience preferred Licensure/Certification Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (required upon hire) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (required) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare teams Demonstrated competency in delivering safe, high-quality patient care In-depth understanding of the continuum of care in endoscopy and surgical services Commitment to excellent customer service and positive patient outcomes Physical Demands Lifting, positioning, and transferring patients and equipment weighing over 50 lbs. Prolonged periods of walking, standing, bending, and manual dexterity Frequent squatting, twisting, reaching, and repetitive wrist/hand movements Clear near vision and auditory acuity required Capable of supporting patients physically for extended durations during procedures Working Conditions Regular exposure to bloodborne pathogens, chemicals, and mechanical/electrical equipment Work may include irregular shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call responsibilities Frequent interaction with surgical and diagnostic imaging equipment, radiation exposure may occur Long shifts involving physical activity and close contact with patients and staff About UNC Health Appalachian It’s official – UNC Health Appalachian earned an “A” in the fall 2023 Leapfrog Patient Safety Grades!
