Requirements:
High school diploma or GED equivalent. Completion of a North Carolina State-approved Nurse Aide I course. Registered as a Nurse Aide I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Service Regulation. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. CNA Experience Preferred & OR Experience Preferred Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization (PEARS) may be required within one year in select areas.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Assistance:
Assist medical staff with patient preparation, examinations, and procedures, including patient interviews, data documentation, and vital signs monitoring.
Nursing Process:
Participate in implementing the nursing process by providing direct care to patients under the guidance of an RN or LPN.
Room Setup:
Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness, restocking, and proper equipment setup.
Communication:
Ensure complete, accurate, and timely communication of patient information within the healthcare team.
Specimen Handling:
Collect and process specimens for diagnostic testing following policy guidelines.
Documentation:
Accurately document all patient care provided in the medical record according to medical center policy.
Point of Care Testing:
Maintain competency for point of care testing as assigned, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
Effective Communication:
Communicate effectively with the healthcare team, colleagues, patients, and family members in a professional and positive manner.
Professional Development:
Take personal responsibility and initiative for professional growth and development.
Age-Specific Care:
Provide age/developmentally appropriate patient care following guidelines for the clinical population served.
Infection Prevention:
Comply with Medical Center Infection Prevention policies to manage infectious materials using proper techniques, sanitization, chemical disinfection, surgical asepsis, and safe handling of biohazardous materials.
