POSITION SUMMARY
The Resident Care Assistant provides basic care, assures a safeenvironment, and provides emotional and psychological support toresidents. These activities will fulfill the SageLife Mission and demonstratethe We Care Values and the Sage Associate Promise.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
1. Provide the necessary personal assistance and activities ofdaily living (ADL) for residents in accordance with the supportplan. Personal and ADL assistance includes bathing, oral care, skinand nail care, hand washing, grooming, shaving, dressing, weighing,bed making, and trash removal. 2. Answer resident call signals. 3. Assist with toileting, including bowel and bladder retrainingand perineal care. 4. Assist with meal service delivery, ensuring that resident’snutritional needs are met. 5. Observe resident’s conditions, measuring and recording food andliquid intake and output as needed and vital signs, and reportchanges and observations to wellness staff. 6. Complete all documentation as needed to maintain current healthstatus of resident. 7. Participate in the planning of resident care through shiftreports and resident care staff meetings. 8. Keep current with state and facility required annual training.
Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school degree or GED equivalent.
Experience:
Minimum of one year of experience in personal and/or long termcare.
Skills:
Highly committed to resident care and have strong interpersonal andcommunication skills. Able to read, speak, and understand English at a 12th grade levelor higher.
Licensures and Certifications:
Valid Massachusetts HHA or CNA license or 54 hours of trainingconducted by a licensed Massachusetts Registered Nurse. Will payfor Home Health Aide Certification. Current First Aid and CPR certifications preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds and exert 50 pounds offorce. Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and stoop as needed. Able to safely transfer a resident to/from a wheelchair. Able to walk up/down 4 flights of stairs.
Other Requirements:
Able to stay beyond scheduled shift in the event of an emergency orinclement weather. Must never have been convicted of a felony related to the theft orillegal sale of a controlled substance. No person working in a Residence shall have been determined by anadministrative board or court to have violated any local, state, orfederal statute, regulation, ordinance, or other law reasonablyrelated to the safety and well-being of a Resident at an AssistedLiving Residence or patient at a Health Care Facility.
