Work Shifts 9:00 A.M – 5:00 P.M Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES 1.

Report to the Patient Escort office in room 1303 at the beginning of your assigned tour for the daily huddle to check in and receive any important information. 2. When arriving on a unit inform the Nurse on duty which patient you are there to pick up. 3. Upon arriving to the patient’s room: Introduce yourself to the patient. Check their identification band. Explain the nature of the transport. 4. Escort the patient to and from the nursing service until the receiving unit assumes responsibility for the patient. 5. Transport the patient by wheelchair, stretcher, crib, bed and escort ambulatory patients including those with intravenous apparatus to and from various nursing units, x-ray, scheduled therapy appointments, clinics, discharges and religious centers within the hospital. 6. Return medical equipment/apparatus used during transportation of patient to their assigned holding location (i.e.: Beds go to the unit of origin, stretchers and wheelchairs are to be kept in room 1301, in the ED bay, etc.) 7. Transport bodies, fetuses and amputated body parts by placing them in the morgue tray as necessary. Responsibilities Elementary school graduation or equivalent ability to effectively communicate with patients; Ability to keep simple clinical records.
