Job Summary:
This is a paid nurse aidetraining and competency evaluation program to prepare for thePennsylvania Nurse Aide exam. The class runs approximately 4-6weeks. At the conclusion of the class you will be required to takethe Pennsylvania Nurse Aide exam (NNAAP®) within 120 days in orderto be considered for continued employment. The Certified Nurse Aideprovides the activities of daily living care to the residents underlicensed staff supervision
Essential Functions:
- Treats allinformation about residents, their condition, and family asconfidential information.
- Complies with established policies andprocedures, and maintains established standards and practices.
- Assists in or provides for the maintenance of individual personalhygiene, i.e., bathing, shaving, changing clothing, nail care,toilet needs, etc.
- Provides clean, dry linen and make beds tomeet resident needs.
- Encourages proper resident nutrition byserving food promptly and assists with feeding when necessary.
- Performs resident treatments as assigned by the Team Leader andwithin the nursing scope of practice.
- Records residentinformation concisely, accurately, and completely, and reports tothe Team Leader objective observations of change in residentcondition or need.
- Actively participates in resident careplanning.
- Promotes the activity of daily living according to theresident’s care plan.
- Resident lifts and transfers will be doneaccording to the resident’s care plan and the Lift Free Program.
- Performs other functions as directed by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Ability to lift and transfer 30 pounds ofresident weight frequently (30 times) throughout the shift.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and turn constantlythroughout an eight (8) hour shift.
- Organizational skills andability to do sequential events.
- Listed on the state registry asa Nursing Assistant within 120 days of employment.
- Motivation anddesire to work with geriatric persons.
- Ability to speak Englishat a level the residents can understand.
- Ability to read andwrite in English to carry out functions related to the care plansand provides appropriate resident care.
Physical Requirements:
Mustbe able to constantly work on their feet during an 8 hour shift;bend, stoop, twist, and turn constantly throughout the shift inperforming regular duties. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds ofresident weight and/or transfer and reposition a resident at least25 times throughout the shift. Must be able to react quickly anddecisively in emergencies and in response to the unexpectedbehavior of residents either during lifting or repositioning orduring other frequent occasions when having direct contact withresidents. Must be able to handle the physical transfer ofresidents from unsafe to safer locations in the event of a fire orother disaster. Ability to do sequential events/tasks.
